Jacob pushes the material to new and creative landscapes that envelope texture, pattern and colour. His textiles encapsulate an energy of fun and creativity that clashes print and pattern, challenging the natural conventions of knitted textiles. Jacob has won awards for both colour and technique within his work, pushing him to the forefront of his industry.
Jacob allows the material to take the lead, allowing the textile to breathe and take focus within the overall construct of the final product. The textile often lends itself to structure and shape. This shape informs the silhouette, creating a new and original perspective. Experimentation is an important aspect within his work, using yarns that react to each other in new and interesting ways or by placing the knitted textile in direct contrast to other materials.
